Counseling

Distorted body image can be over come by seeking help at the Counseling Center. The Counseling Center offers counseling for body image and eating disorders as well as a support group called Body Appreciation and Self-Kindness (B.A.S.K.). This support group meets on Thursdays from 4- 5 p.m. for students who struggle with eating and weight issues. Students will learn to embrace a healthy self image and desire to feel better about themselves and their bodies. Nutrition Therapy

The Medical Nutrition Therapy at University Medical Center offers counseling for different types of nutrition therapy needs. Among the types of counseling offered is wellness and eating orders. There are two registered dieticians to serve you. If Nutrition Therapy seems right for you, requests must be made from a physician or other health care provide at University Medical Center or in the community. A self referral is acceptable for some cases. Please call 205-348-1213 to schedule an appointment.

National Eating Disorders Association

The National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA) is the leading non-profit organization in the United States advocating on behalf of and supporting individuals and families affected by eating disorders. Reaching millions every year, NEDA campaigns for prevention, improved access to quality treatment, and increased research funding to better understand and treat eating disorders. NEDA works with partners and volunteers to develop programs and tools to help everyone who seeks assistance.
