Dani Sullivan is a 19-year-old freshman at the University of Alabama where she is majoring in telecommunication and film. Growing up in Cary, Ill., Dani started competitive cheerleading in the fifth grade until she was 15. Even at a young age, Dani felt pressured by her coaches to lose weight and conform to a certain body type.

What is your advice to women who struggle with body image? Don’t let anyone tell you you are too big because everyone is beautiful.
What is your idea of happiness? To have those who love who they are and what they are doing.
What is beauty? People who are ok with how they feel and look.
What do you enjoy doing most? Going to tumble.
If not yourself, who would you like to be? I would like to be Cheryl Burke because people kept telling her how heavy she was. And she couldn’t believe people were saying this since she’s a dancer and has a thick body. She never let that put her down.
What is your biggest weakness? Looking at those who are skinnier than me

What natural gift would you most like to possess? Being able to have a flat stomach again.
What do you most value in your friends? That they don’t care about how I look. They are friends with me for my personality not how I look.
